About UKPicks

UKPicks publishes independent buying guides for UK shoppers. Every guide is researched with British conditions in mind — CE marking requirements, UK voltage standards (230V/50Hz), local retailer availability, and the specific demands of British weather and home layouts.

What problem we solve

Most buying guide sites are written for the US market and lightly adapted for the UK. Product names change, prices are converted, but the underlying research does not account for what is actually available at Currys, John Lewis, or Amazon UK — or whether a product carries proper UK certification.

UKPicks starts from the UK market. Most picks are specific Amazon.co.uk product pages that we pull through Amazon's own Creators API each time a guide is rebuilt. A guide shows Amazon's price where Amazon returns one for an in-stock offer, and says so where Amazon reports the product out of stock.

How we research

We do not buy or lab-test the products we list, and we say so. A pick with a verified listing is written from the product's own Amazon.co.uk listing — title, specification, feature bullets, brand and stated warranty — retrieved through Amazon's Creators API, then written up against the UK context that matters for that category: fittings and voltage standards, UK sizing, energy labels, and your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

  • A pick with a verified listing links to that Amazon.co.uk product page (a /dp/ ASIN). Where no exact listing was verified, the link goes to an Amazon.co.uk search for the product, and some picks have no Amazon link at all
  • Live prices and stock status come from Amazon's API and are shown with a time no later than when Amazon returned them. A guide page is rebuilt when it is requested more than six hours after its last build, so a live figure can be several hours old
  • Where a listing does not state something — warranty length, materials, a certification — the guide says it is not stated rather than guessing
  • Rankings are editorial: chosen on the specification a UK buyer will actually notice, not on price alone
  • The date on each guide is its last editorial revision; between revisions, a pick Amazon reports out of stock is marked on the page

Who writes UKPicks

UKPicks is written and maintained by Bikram Nath, a solo publisher based in Pune, India, who also runs the sister sites PakkaPick (India) and AUPicks (Australia). Bikram builds the research tooling, writes the guides and answers every correction email personally. There is no editorial team and no agency behind the site. Any paid placement is headed “Advertisement feature” and sits outside the rankings — see the advertising page.
